-Job PurposeNational Grid is seeking an experienced Writer to join the Global IT & Digital organization to provide technology writing and editing for diverse communications including board papers, executive briefs, regulatory updates, internal newsletters, industry use cases. Communications are designed to disseminate information on the IT & Digital organization 's strategy, execution plans and future roadmap aspirations, as well as communicate, create clarity and excitement for IT & Digital 's transformation journey.
The writer-editor assembles background content, summarizes findings and activities, and prepares substantive content for internal and external audiences with varying levels of knowledge or understanding of IT & Digital. Work products include executive briefs, regulatory papers, web content, special reports, social media, video and other documents/media for the UK and US. -
-Key Accountabilities

  • Complete internal research and provide interview services for content development, writing and editing support to develop original informational content for dissemination for a variety of platforms including printed articles, digital newsletter, websites, social media and marketing material.
  • Write, edit, proofread, and maintain current IT & Digital documentation to include: Executive papers, operating handbooks, regulatory submissions, strategy, and policy documents. -
  • Review raw document drafts and revise as necessary to meet style, format, quality and strategic messaging requirements and maintain consistency across all communication vehicles
  • Collaborate with IT & Digital leadership and team members to ensure accuracy, quality, clarity, completeness and effectiveness of documentation. -
  • Curate compelling and engaging content for internal team members to increase understanding and relevance of IT & Digital Transformation
  • Provide and solicit feedback for improvement of documentation and writing processes to create engaging content.
  • Interpret content (both technical and non-technical) and be skilled in restructuring content into the appropriate written form understandable at required levels within and external to the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the development of procedures and methods of writing to reflect best industry practice -
  • Define and execute against an editorial calendar to drive optimal engagement with different audiences.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the priorities and key themes and priorities of IT & Digital -
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities (both process and technical) from risk registers, customer feedback, supplier performance reports and output of incident/problem management processes.
  • Manage and recruit business analyst team in line with long-term skills and capabilities aligned to the investment and capability development plans.
  • Lead on defining and implementing continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and development for the business analyst practice team.
  • Provide strategic direction to the business analyst team and undertake project related analysis work while holding accountability for the quality and consistency across projects of team output.
  • Drive the implementation of consistent processes and methodologies across a capability ensuring compliance with key business requirements.
  • Complete all support documentation on assigned projects, including creating and updating all user and technical procedures/manuals, business, and functional requirements, traceability matrices, process flows, operational support documentation and archives.
  • Ensure accurate root cause analysis and corrective action identification, with the eco-system partners followed by providing architectural oversight and guidance for major changes to operational systems. -Qualifications

    • Strong editorial background and exceptional skill in proof-reading, creating, implementing and ensuring adherence to appropriate style guides

    • Action-oriented, focused on quality output and delivering on deadlines.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work independently with minimal direction.
