Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Valid Driver's License and Current Auto Insurance Ability to successfully pass pre-employment driver record, criminal, adult and child abuse background check/review required Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Volunteer functions encompass those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that are critical and fundamental to the volunteer position and comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives. Assists team with patient care in accordance with the plan of care. Provides needed services to patients/families and as outlined in the Hospice Volunteer Handbook (e.g. companionship, shopping, respite, etc.) Makes a time commitment of 2-4 hours each week as schedule permits. Provides notification when a substitute is needed. Uses listening skills effectively to provide emotional support to the patient/family. Reports and/or records any changes in the patient's condition or environment to the Hospice Volunteer Services Coordinator, case manager, or other appropriate team member. Provides accurate, timely, and objective documentation of volunteer activity. Submits annual mandatory paper to maintain active status as a volunteer. Attends scheduled rehearsals and assigned bed-side or community presentations (if applicable) Is able to demonstrate competency requirements and attends educational in-services and workshops as schedule permits. Accountable for and expected to integrate VNAHSR's HEALTH Matters values into the execution of the essential functions of their volunteer work.
