The Boston Branch has an excellent opportunity for an Ocean
Specialist II. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented,
energetic individual with experience in the freight forwarding
industry to process commercial ocean export shipments. The ideal
candidate will possess excellent communication and customer service
skills. Very good interpersonal skills, attention to details and a
positive, professional demeanor are essential for success.
65% Preparation and processing of Ocean Export shipments
10% Preparation and processing of Air Export shipments
10% Coordination and communication with trucking companies,
brokers, customers, steamship line and/or bonded facilities as well
as with other branches and departments
5% Customer service
5% Billing and Accounts Receivable
5% Assistance with business development
Prepare and process air and ocean export shipments for assigned
customers. To include communicating with shippers/vendors,
organizing documentation, generating pickup
orders/BOLs/HAWBs/MAWBs, bookings, customs clearance, track trace,
on-handing, labeling, and other tasks required for smooth export of
Prepare customer quotations to achieve average of 80% win
Assist with HQ generated ocean export or major account ocean export
Coordinate timely pick-up orders with trucking companies, piers,
steamship lines, air carriers, and/or bonded facilities.
Provide excellent customer service through professional, direct
contact with the customer utilizing both phone and email.
Manage and update the ocean export customer profiles and account
list, ensure SOPs and tariffs are updated
Communicate effectively by demonstrating professionalism, courtesy
and respect in all interactions with internal departments
(warehouse, sales, etc.), other branches and external contacts
(government agencies, ocean carriers and ports, trucking and rail
companies, vendors or subcontractors)
Filing and data entry.
Accurate and timely billing
Review buy rates/sell rates of the Boston ocean export product
Coordinate with air export team to reduce trucking overhead
Develop additional business with current customers and support
sales team efforts with new customers. Accompany branch staff on
General reporting and business support functions as required or
Assist the Export Manager where needed and take on additional roles
and responsibilities as company/branch/department require

High school diploma or equivalency certificate or significant or
relevant or appropriate working experience.
Third party logistics, freight forwarding or supply chain
Analytical skill (Familiar with logistics concept and planning
Strong computer skills including data entry and maintenance and
working knowledge of general and Import/Export computer application
Knowledge of international commerce (Incoterms, method, customs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule including
weekends and holidays as necessary, position is exempt
Strong teamwork skills, preferably leadership skills
Process improvement- strategy and tactics
Patience ability to deal with complex processes that may involve
multiple levels of approval
Preferred hours, Monday-Friday, 7:30 to 16:00
Ability to take on additional tasks as described by management
