Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. All Lab Technicians Collects and prepares various gelatin and/or raw material samples for testing Performs laboratory tests including microbiological, chemical and physical in accordance with written procedures Identifies non-conforming product and confers with management Accurately records data via lab report, log books Accurately enters test data into computer based LIMS system Performs weekend/Holiday rotation including routine micro and chemical/physical testing Performs and report special tests such as those required by customers according to their specifications Prepares media and stock solutions required for performing tests; Maintains lab supply inventories Keeps work area, supplies, glassware and other equipment clean, organized and properly cared for Calibrates or verifies lab equipment, when appropriate Special projects and other duties as assigned To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following Key Accountabilities Safety and Security --- Demonstrates a commitment to safety by following safety rules & guidelines; follows good housekeeping practices, takes proper care of equipment. Supervisory Responsibility This job has no supervisory responsibilities unless the individual holds a team leader position. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Due to the 24/7 nature of the plant, work on Weekends, Holidays, and Overtime are requirements of the position. Minimum Requirements Two-year---s experience in Chemistry or a related subject Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
