Job Description:

Cell Lead Purpose/ Summary Provide leadership to effectively coordinate the talents of associates to achieve World-Class status in production operations. Responsible for managing multiple cells and product lines. Coordinates all activities and conducts necessary training in order to achieve 100% operational status within an assigned cell. Continually assesses scheduling, set-up, and tooling within the assigned cell and takes remedial action when necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provide leadership and direction to ensure that resources are available for the completion of established operational goals and objectives. Responsible for the operational metrics of production rates and cycles, productivity and quality/continuous improvements. Lead, promote and manage a safe work environment and will be accountable for driving year-over-year cost productivity targets including Company SCORECARD metrics. Proactively implements performance management processes and tools effectively across multiple cells and works cooperatively and productively with entire operations. Promotes change, keen interest in driving business goals, and embraces continuous improvement. Actively participates in budgeting, tooling, capital planning and process improvement. Keeps all spindles turning within the cell and immediately addresses any issues preventing the spindle from turning. Operates machines as needed. Trains employees to the required efficiency standards for running parts, basic machine operation, ISO documentation and general use of inspection equipment and setups. Obtains all tooling necessary for the next scheduled job on any particular machine. Ensures that all pre-tooling is completed. Coordinates with production control to set priorities and schedules jobs for the machines in order to maximize material and personnel. Reviews the performance of the operators during each shift to evaluate efficiency and address issues as they occur. Assists machinists when a prototype or First Run Lot is released to the floor. Reviews all setups to ensure that they are completed within the time allotted. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in fabrication of structural metal products. Uses process map, workpiece, and blueprints to determine process, materials, machines, tooling, and sequence of operation. Assigns tasks to workers and specifies methods of coordinating workflow to meet production schedules. Inspects parts as needed. Investigates malfunction of machines and equipment to determine need for repair. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Analyzes and resolves, or assists in the resolution of, work problems. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Regularly reviews and follows all ISO documentation relating to the quality system. Effectively coaches and mentors employees, proactively supports employee involvement and development, counsels employees regarding performance standards, and conducts timely performance reviews. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, with continual emphasis on promoting employee health and safety and using proper safety techniques. Able to balance conflicting and multiple priorities. Working knowledge and implementation of 6S and lean manufacturing principles. Demonstrate a strong work ethic that shows a commitment to quality, continuous improvement, safety, productivity, safety and commitment to reach or exceed company goals. Resolve manufacturing and maintenance problems to prevent operational delays. Able to conceptualize and analyze problems/opportunities. Will integrate and apply tools to manufacturing processes and have a fundamental knowledge of supply chain processes/practices. Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office applications are required. Coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets customer specification(s). Candidate must have the ability to develop and/or revise standard operational and working practices and procedures. Will observe workers to ensure compliance with standards. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Manufacturing or Engineering field preferred or equivalent. Five or more years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment. Experience with ISO or QS 9000 systems, global manufacturing, six-sigma and lean manufacturing background is a plus. Proven ability to lead associates in completion of tasks and personal development. SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegating skills and the precise amount of involvement without interference, allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks. Syteline/Symix business and material planning software systems Quality assurance methods in the Aerospace manufacturing and outsourcing environment Excellent negotiator, with outstanding communication skills both written and verbal. Experience with MRP/ERP, purchasing, fabrication of metal components, Investment Castings, Forgings and assembly. Ability to read mechanical drawings Experience with lean manufacturing, supplier partnerships, expertise in supplier selection and contract development The position requires judgment, ingenuity, critical thinking and adherence to established policies and procedures. The ability to manage projects, gather and analyze data, work in a team environment and meet deadlines is critical to success in this position. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before the employees in the organization. The ability to manage delinquent suppliers and negotiate effectively is required.
