Job Title: Medical Assistant (MA)At ConvenientMD we're on a mission to make good health more convenient for all - working to improve how patients and providers experience healthcare in New England. The MA is provided with the education and skills of medication administration, patient education, and general clinical skills. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for working alongside all other clinical team members to complete all shared clinical responsibilities and tasks within their scope of practice.Job Responsibilities: Patient triage, to include but not limited to: vital signs; medical history; observational examination. Assist with any and all patient exams, testing and procedures under the direction of the provider (i.e. I&Ds, pelvic exams, splinting, casting, joint injection preparation, etc.) Assist with the following testing & procedures:Vision testingHearing/audiometry testingUrine drug screen testingBreath alcohol testingLift testingPeak flow testingPulmonary function testing (spirometry)Impact TestingEar IrrigationEye wash flushingWound soaking and cleansingTuberculosis screeningPoint of care testing: Strep, FLU, RSV, SARs-CoV-2, Capillary Glucose, Mono, HCG, Urinalysis, FOBT/Guaiac, Lipid Panel (obtained via CardioChek Analyzer), Chemistry & CBCSterile technique in wound care management, dressing application, trauma patients, burn care and instrument cleaning and sterilizationSuture & staple removal from simple incisions/lacerations if competency has been demonstrated per new hire competency checklist AND RN or Provider has assessed & given approval for removalBlood draw/phlebotomyIV removal after competency has been demonstrated per new hire competency checklistAirway management through nebulizer treatment, oral suctioning, oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal airway, oxygen administration & ventilation with AMBU bagCardiac Management through application of 12 Lead ECG, CPR-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and defibrillation by AEDPrepare PD-Rx medications for dispensing by appropriate team member (ME & NH) Administration of immunizationsMedication administration as outlined by the CMD Medical Assistant scope of practice; all medication calculations must be double checked by licensed personnel (RN or provider) unless pre-packaged doses.Administration of hot & cold packs Assist with patient call backs to include, but not limited to, answering of patient questions within scope, reporting test results, medication/therapy changes.Assist with phone screening for patients in cars or in rooms with potential COVID in order to limit exposure.Assist with calling in written prescriptions to patient requested pharmacy (excludes narcotics).Reporting of Communicable Diseases Ensures operation of clinical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs or reporting repair needs to clinic PMAssists in maintaining adequate clinical supplies inventory by checking & notating when stock levels are lowKeeps work area and exam rooms stocked, clean and orderlyMaintains accurate, complete records & reportsDocuments patient education and care in EMR and all other applicable areasInteract with patients in a positive and helpful manner, provide information and assistance as neededMaintains confidentiality with all patient information by upholding HIPAA laws and rulesComplies with all ConvenientMD policies, protocols & proceduresParticipate in the training of new team members.Other duties as required or assignedQualifications:Two years of experience preferred; urgent care, ED or primary care experience preferredGraduate of Medical Assistant program with active Certified Medical Assistant License/Registered MA LicenseAHA BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification Preferred; American Red Cross BLS Certification AcceptedMust be able to work 12hr shifts and weekendsPhysical Requirements:Requires the ability to stand and sit for hours at a time. Some bending and stooping is required.Must be able to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements.Must be able to lift 50lbs.There's a job and then there's purposeful, transformative work.
