Job Description:
The Department of Psychiatry at MaineHealth Behavioral Health
located Maine Medical Center Portland (MHMMCP) is seeking a
Clinical Pediatric Psychologist to join a community-focused
practice serving both rural and urban population. Successful
candidates will be gifted clinician-educators committed to
improving the lives of children and adolescents, and excited to
work with a team of like-minded colleagues. The Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry Division offers evaluation and treatment of
pediatric patients with a wide range and complexity of illnesses.
We work closely with our primary care and specialty care partners.
Our clinical staff includes psychiatrists, psychologists and
clinical social workers. Our care continuum also includes Spring
Harbor Hospital and MaineHealth Behavioral Health, a region-wide
comprehensive mental health organization. MHMMCP also includes the
Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, the state’s only pediatric
tertiary care center and only Level 1 Trauma Center. The Emergency
Department has 63 beds, including a 6-bed Acute Psychiatry Unit. In
addition to clinical care, we provide a major teaching resource for
MHMMC. We train and mentor Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellows,
Psychiatry residents, Pediatrics residents, Tufts University School
of Medicine medical students, and Social Work and Psychology
practicum students and postdoctoral fellows. We have a culture of
education, with an expectation that Psychologists will apply for
faculty appointment to the Tufts University School of Medicine.
This doctoral level position is responsible for the assessment,
diagnosis, and treatment of children and adolescents. They will
work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to
coordinate comprehensive care. The patient mix includes referrals
from the community as well as from acute care settings, such as
inpatient psychiatry, inpatient pediatrics, and emergency
departments. Teaching residents, medical students, and other
learners is as requested by the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Fellowship Program Director. Schedule: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Minimum Qualifications: - Education: Requires professional level of
knowledge in Clinical psychology which is equivalent to that which
is acquired through the completion of a Doctoral program,
accredited by The American Psychological Association -
License/Certifications: Licensed as a Psychologist by the State of
Maine. Current license as a Psychologist by the Board of Examiners
of Psychologists of Maine. - Experience: Requires a comprehensive
understanding of all the procedures and systems used within a
clinical psychology setting as well as high levels of proficiency
in performing psychological assessment, treatment and consultation
normally acquired in a minimum of three years of experience. A
minimum of two years of clinical experience is preferred. Prior
experience working with pediatric patients who have complex medical
histories is desirable. Skills in the treatment of OCD and Tic
disorders is required. MaineHealth is a not-for-profit integrated
