Ortho Rhode Island (ORI) has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Physician Assistant to join its Ortho Express team. The Physician Assistant will provide care at the Warwick and Providence locations.Headquartered in Warwick, Rhode Island, Ortho RI provides the highest quality clinical care across six locations and a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center. The practices 36 physicians provide the latest, evidence-based treatment across a variety of specialties, including elbow, foot and ankle, hand and wrist, hip, joint replacement, knee, pediatric orthopedics, rheumatology, shoulder, spine and sports medicine.Responsibilities:Summary: The provider will work in ORI's Ortho Express and assess and treat urgent musculoskeletal injuries. Performs and documents history and physicals of walk-in patients.Evaluates and treats a full range of orthopedic injuries and conditions including sprains, strains, fractures, wound care and post op problemsOrders and interprets test/lab studies including X-ray, MRI, CT Scan, EMG/NCS Bone Scan, blood tests, urinalysis, wound cultures and synovial fluid analysisConsults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PAs scope of work.Provides therapeutic treatments including oral medications, corticosteroid injections, applications of casts, splints, braces and prescribes physical and occupational therapiesPerforms minor office/emergency room procedures including fracture closed reduction, laceration repair, and I&D of abscessProvides patient and family education and instructions.Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality.Documents patient encounters according to state & federal guidelines.Other Duties as AssignedIND2Requirements:Graduate of Accredited Physician Assistant InstitutionCertification through NCCPAValid Rhode Island LicenseAny combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.Proficient in EMR softwareStrong interpersonal and communication skillsPosition Type and Expected Hours of Work:Full-time position - Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 11:15am-8:15pm.Generous compensation commensurate with experience and comprehensive benefit package offered.We are an equal-opportunity employer.
