Speech Language Pathologist/AAC Specialist
Hopeful Journeys' mission is to provide quality and individualized
education to children with autism spectrum disorders and other
developmental disabilities. We strive to build better futures for
children and families by helping them to reach their fullest
potential and enabling them to live more productive and independent
lives. Hopeful Journeys is designed to meet the individualized
academic, social, vocational, and behavioral needs of children ages
3-22. Students who attend the Hopeful Journeys program require an
individualized and highly structured environment throughout their
day and across all activities that utilizes a teaching methodology
based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Hopeful Journeys Educational Center is hiring a full-time, licensed
Speech and Language Pathologist to provide consultative services in
our school for children with autism and other developmental
disabilities (ages 3-22). Clinical Fellows are welcome.
Salary: $70,000-$90,000

Overall Responsibilities Include:
Develop communication and language based academic goals in
conjunction with other specialists
Support students who use Alternative and Augmentative Communication
Devices (TouchChat, Proloquo2go, Snap+Core, LAMP, and
GoTalkNow)
Provide staff and family training on use of AAC devices
Collaborate with clinicians for curriculum and program development
targeting social skills, transitional/vocational programming and
literacy
Conduct ongoing observations of students across their school
environment to make recommendations and provide staff feedback
Run social skills groups, cooking groups, vocational shifts, and
lead organization in providing social opportunities throughout the
day
Receive monthly AAC and Assistive Technology training to bring
higher-level, evidence-based therapy to students
Identify training needs across the school and work with training
team to provide as necessary
Complete staff training for teachers, parents, and clinical team as
needed
Conduct regular consults to special education teachers and clinical
staff to monitor progress and generate IEP objectives
Consult to teachers providing 1:1 therapy to students
Conduct annual and tri-annual standardized and informal
evaluations
Attending IEP meetings as necessary
Provide support to the development of language, articulation, and
social goals and curriculum
Analyze individual student progress and recommend program
updates
Providing some, but limited, direct services to students
Participate in post-22 student-centered planning process
