Product Yield Improvement Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Yield Engineer (YE) you are responsible for ensuring delivery of high quality parts to our customers by identifying root cause of inline defect issues or multiprobe yield loss in MACOM s semiconductor manufacturing environment. Primary responsibilities include identifying, reporting, evaluating and resolving yield loss associated with random or spatial defect patterns. You will initiate root cause analysis and partner with Fab Engineering to drive corrective actions on outlier tools and/or processes with higher defect density to exceed organizational process yield and multiprobe yield goals.

You are responsible for performing commonality analysis, and engaging Process, Product, and Equipment Engineers to resolve. There will be opportunities to lead, influence, and support teams associated with defect density reduction, defect excursions, and yield improvement to troubleshoot and resolve key yield-limiting defect problems.

Participation in cross-functional teams across MACOM is expected and required. Presenting defect reduction project updates to upper management is essential. You will be expected to spend time in the Fab on a daily basis working closely with the on-shift Technicians to resolve defect issues and communicate findings to the engineering community through daily interaction with Process, Product, and Equipment engineering counterparts

Qualifications:

* Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field of study plus 2 years experience or Master s degree.

* Applicant must be organized, multi-tasking, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, analytical, decisive decision making skills, and work effectively in a team environment.

* Demonstrate experience of Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.

* Familiarity with III-V device physics related to factory integration and yield enhancement with a strong knowledge of statistical data analysis is preferred.
